Charango — Privacy Policy

Charango is built by ByteHaven Studios LLC (“we”). The short version:

What we collect

Nothing. Charango has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no identifiers of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell to anyone. Every feature — the tuner, chords, courses, songs and all the practice tools — works fully offline.

The microphone permission

Tuning requires hearing your instrument, so Charango requests the microphone permission. Audio is analysed in real time, on your device, to estimate pitch; it is processed and immediately discarded, never stored and never transmitted. The microphone is used only while the app is open and listening.

The practice recorder tool is the one exception to “never stored”: when you deliberately tap record, that take is saved locally on your device, under your control. You can play it back and delete it in the app; it is never uploaded.

The Internet permission

Charango does not use the Internet. On Android it does not request the Internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere; on iPhone it contains no networking code at all.

A downloadable song catalog is planned for a later version. Before any version of Charango starts using the Internet, this policy will be updated to say exactly what it fetches and what that request contains.

Notifications

The drone and metronome can keep sounding while the app is in the background, and Android may ask for permission to show notifications so you get lock-screen controls to stop them. That is the only thing the permission is used for: Charango sends no messages, alerts, reminders or marketing of any kind. Declining it does not stop the audio, and it involves no data collection.

Settings

Your preferences (tuning, theme, and similar) are stored locally on your device and never leave it.

Purchases

Charango is a paid app: you buy it once from Google Play or the App Store, and every feature is included. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. The payment is handled entirely by the store; we receive no personal information from it.

Children

Charango is suitable for all ages. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
