Guitar — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-20

Language: English · Español

Guitar is built by ByteHaven Studios LLC (“we”). The short version:

Guitar collects no data. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.

What we collect

Nothing. Guitar has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no identifiers of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell to anyone. Every feature, from the tuner, chords, songbook and courses to all the practice tools, works fully offline.

The microphone permission

Tuning requires hearing your instrument, so Guitar requests the microphone permission. Audio is analysed in real time, on your device, to estimate pitch; it is processed and immediately discarded, never stored and never transmitted. The microphone is used only while the app is open and listening.

The practice recorder tool is the one exception to “never stored”: when you deliberately tap record, that take is saved locally on your device, under your control. You can play it back and delete it in the app; Guitar never uploads it.

The Internet permission

Guitar does not use the Internet. On Android it does not request the Internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere; on iPhone it contains no networking code at all.

If a future version of Guitar ever needs the Internet, this policy will be updated first, to say exactly what it sends and why.

Notifications

The drone and metronome can keep sounding while the app is in the background, and Android may ask for permission to show notifications so you get lock-screen controls to stop them. That is the only thing the permission is used for: Guitar sends no messages, alerts, reminders or marketing of any kind. Declining it does not stop the audio, and it involves no data collection.

Settings and your device's own backup

Your preferences (tuning, theme, and similar), your practice history and your recorder takes are stored on your device. If you have turned on your phone's own backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud Backup on iPhone), the operating system may include them in that backup, in your own account. That backup is run by Google or Apple under your account and their terms; we never receive it and cannot see it. Whether you own Pro is never restored from a backup: the store confirms it again.

Purchases

Guitar is free to download. Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase, processed entirely by the store you got the app from (Google Play or the App Store). There are no subscriptions. We receive no personal information from that transaction: the store only tells the app that Pro is owned.

Children

Guitar is suitable for all ages. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
